thank you ladies. you didn’t have to say that*

Team Gina, Butch/Femme

I like butch girls and I cannot lie
you other femmes can’t deny
when a butch walks in, all the femmes wanna fuss
’cause there’s like one of them and thirty of us …

Brilliant! I don’t usually post media here, but this is oh so relevant to the current topics of conversation.I really wonder what kind of conversation happened on the set here. Where’d they find all these butches? Do they identify as butch? Were they hesitant to be involved in this video because they didn’t identify as butch?

And how about that part at the end, when the butch is “flaggin’ a bottom” – she vehemently denies it: “I’m a top, I swear!” – I like the subversiveness of the lyrics there, the femmes singing “I ain’t trying to be predictable, but you’re gonna have to pin me against this wall” (I would like that), but it is a tiny moment where I wonder about the reinforcement of the butch/top femme/bottom dynamics.

Really though, this shit is fucken brilliant.

Yeah, when I first found it, it was right after all the butch/femme discussion, and I was like 'what? nothing wrong with a butch being a bottom!' But on the other hand, I like that the Ginas talk about being able to change their own oil, and the featured butch sings about letting the femmes pay…so it still challenges some stereotypes.Mmmm…loves this vid!

the lumberJill cracks me up ever time! and that 1:30 ratio. ugh.the top/bottom issue… the whole video's a little tongue-in-cheek (mhmmm!) so that's how I took the butch bottom part.

I love this video. I completely agree that it is tounge-in-cheek. It was shot in Seattle, and my friend is the lumberJill. She is over 50 and often washes her car in a string bikini and those boots. Can you handle it?!? Such a great body, and a really solid person (Her partner is so lucky). I don't know how they recruited the Butches, but the Motercycle Butch and Car Mechanic Butch are fixtures at local events. . . such nice eye candy amoung the NorthFace and overcast weather. Thanks for giving it more exposure!

Haha.. I can't believe I haven't seen this until now. The Gina's are friends of mine, and I think I know pretty much all the girls in the video. They did such a great job! I would bet they had a whole lot of really hilarious conversations on that shoot. I wish they'd let this butch boy in on the fun!
